THE MOUNTAIN OF MADNESS

At the Mountains of Madness evokes the vastness and alterity of nature—what in Eastern thought may be called “xu jing” (emptiness and stillness). The blank spaces and gaps between brushstrokes conjure an unknowable path ahead—a spellbound procession moving toward distant mountains and caves, engaging in tanyou (deep wandering). The spatial perspective between foreground and background abandons the heroic mode of exploration, shifting instead toward an inward gaze of consciousness, a resonance of intuition, transforming “obsession” into contemplative awareness.
